"Flying Car" Xpeng Aero HT's Groundbreaking Land Aircraft Carrier: The Future of Urban Air Mobility Unveiled at CES 2025
Xpeng Aero HT, a subsidiary of the Chinese EV startup Xpeng, unveiled its "modular flying car," the Land Aircraft Carrier, at CES 2025. This innovative vehicle is an electric minivan that incorporates a small folding eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft. The company has received 3,000 pre-orders and plans to start mass production in 2025, with initial deliveries in 2026. Priced below $300,000, the Land Aircraft Carrier is targeted at thrill-seekers and emergency services.
The vehicle offers a practical approach by allowing users to drive to a takeoff site, detach the eVTOL, and take off. After flying, the eVTOL reconnects to the minivan. The Land Aircraft Carrier has received type certification and has completed its first public crewed flight demonstration.
Aero HT's production facility in Guangzhou aims to start production by the end of the year and plans to produce up to 10,000 vehicles at full capacity. The company continues to raise funds to scale production and has ambitious future plans for integrated urban air mobility and seamless land-air transportation systems.
